The author wanted to convey the fullness of the gloom of that period of time. According to the artist's stories, he lived in the provincial outback, and on himself experienced all the hardships of rural life. Despite the problems of that time, the villagers adapted to the harsh living conditions.
One of the evenings in March, the author got the inspiration to paint this picture. The artist put a particle of his soul into this work. The huts, filled with family comfort, paint the gloom of that time. Rooks, who arrived from warm regions, managed to establish nests for themselves on birches that were bare after winter. It is made in a romantic style, but with a great deal of naivety, especially when creating the image of a peasant woman working for the good of her family. Particular attention can be paid to the image of a peasant woman, or rather to her attire, which is a felt boot, a shirt, covered with a sheepskin coat.
In soft and rich shades of color transitions when writing the sky and light, dissolving in the haze on the horizon of the clouds. Delicate pinkish-violet, blue, bluish-lilac paints on the upper half of the canvas and rich white-gray, dark and brown shades on the lower one contrast and perfectly combine with each other.
