The Monsoon Gen 2 jacket uses a three-layer waterproof and breathable laminate that provides reliable waterproofing, wind protection and breathability. The Monsoon Gen.2 jacket has an additional cover over the front zipper for higher reliability in bad weather conditions. Because it was designed primarily as part of a sniper combat gear system, the lower back is extra long. This means the jacket will not ride up in a prone position.One of the unique features of Monsoon jackets is the built-in air/pac® padding in the shoulder area. They perform two essential tasks. First, they give additional light insulation in the shoulder area and prevent what is called "cold bridging". This sensation occurs when there is only a very light or no insulating layer between your skin and the surrounding air. This means, for example, that cold from the rain is transmitted to the skin. Secondly, the air/pac® inserts distribute the weight of heavy backpacks or plate carriers. Due to their foam-like nature, they provide extra padding where the straps of a backpack or plate carrier normally rest.Two upper and two lower arm pockets give enough storage space for important gear.Long side zippers can be used either as ventilation openings when it gets too hot, or simply to access gear worn underneath.
